Metallized Film capacitors are a type of modern capacitor wherein a thin layer of metal is vacuum-deposited onto a strip of dielectric film.  These capacitors are built with a thinner layer of film than that which is often used in the manufacture of film/foil capacitors.  One strong advantage of using metallized film capacitors is their ability to self heal.
